It's no shocking surprise that I love to play records. I swear I spin a minimum of 3 a day. That's if I have my typical 10 hour work day. On a day off...I play records all day. Literally, all day.
Lately, I've been going on my discogs account and having it tell me what to play. I click the random selection and click click boom my happy ass is "Walking on Sunshine". I am happy about that function. Why else would I play Katrina and the Waves? I probably would not. Then I would be deprived of dancing around the "Beat Cave" with my grand daughter. She liked that almost as much as she does Zac Brown.
She's almost 2 years old and I have to say that she already treats Grand pop's records with an extreme amount of respect. That being said I thought that she might want to start her own record collection. She doesn't say a lot so I'm guessing here.
I took my OG hands and got on my interweb having talking device and pulled up Amazon. Jeff Bezos comes thru! 3 days later "Old McDonald Had A Farm" is playing in the Beat Cave. Lucky for everyone reading this (especially, you grand parents) I'll provide a link. Here is the Link :) Now, I can support this website hosting with the 1000's of record players being bought for kids all over the world thru the lucrative associate program that Amazon offers. I'm sure Jenny will enjoy having the $13 to spend on gas or whatever. So, while your buying that, go ahead and get your lawn mower or whatever else and I'll get that hefty commish.
It's a trip really. Emersyn used to head right up to the record player and snag my Pumba toy sitting right next to a speaker and play with it. She still plays with Pumba but now it's straight for the Fisher Price record player. I love that. She has a milk crate that she sits on or in...and puts on her little yellow or green plastic record. I can't wait until she's 3 and I buy her an AT TurnTable. Gonna be great! Lexi will love me!! (The Momma). I'm just hoping not to have too many Big Sean moments when she hits elementary school talent shows (IYKYK).
Let's get these crazy kids off their phones. Let's get them off of streaming! I know, I know... dream on Jenkins!!! But I do dream of a day that kids delicately put the record on the turn table and enjoy the body of work.
For now I'm enjoying having a music partner for life and as it turns out a dance partner. Emersyn's dance skills are already surpassing mine and Jenny won't dance with me damn it. My wife's only flaw. Oh well.
Peace out and rock on peeps!
