The haul. A wonderful word to my people. It means you got a deal on a large amount of licorice pizza. Recently, Tommy and Litsa came thru for me once again. They run a thrift store in Fort Walton Beach. They like to do the storage unit auction hustle. When they run into records, I get that phone call.
The records belonged to a DJ. This is clear due to the content. 3 crates of Hey, Soul! classics. I've only gone thru around 40. 20 went straight into the garbage as they were beyond repair. Around 10 are good and another 10 but very warped. So...I guess it's time to invest in one of those record dewarper thingies. It will take me 3 weeks to get through all of them. Gotta spin clean them, and check that dead wax so I can catalogue them accurately. Plus, listen to every single one of them. Tough life and brutal hobby.
Tim at Fort Walton Beach Records straightened out a new copy of ATLIENS by OutKast that I picked up recently. It was brand new and sealed. And lumpy!!!! I was just going to return it but Jamie told me they could fix it. And they did! Looks like these things run around $280 or so....If you are in the market for "priced to sell" records and can't make it to a record store, click on my Discogs link and help sponsor that for me.
The records that I've gone thru on this so far that are playable are epic. Aretha, Otis, Luther, Whitney and lot's of Bootsie and Parliament. I mean get down with your bad self, righteous shit baby! Yeah, they are scuffed a little. The sleeves are ehhhh. But getting this amount of variety to add to my big ol pile of vinyl is very awesome. Records like the Prince (pictured) were amazing to see. Some of the records I've never heard of. That makes me even happier. This helps me in weird Jeopardy categories. What is "hell, yes"?
I hope you find your way into the record store soon. Of course, RSD (record store day) is coming up at the end of February so there's a reason.
